QIP 2012 je nástupcem QIPu Infium a QIPu 2010. QIP 2012 podporuje protokoly OSCAR (ICQ), XMPP (Jabber), Gtalk (Jabber), Vkontakte, LiveJournal (Jabber), Mail.Ru Agent a XIMSS (SIP), Twitter, Facebook.
QIP 2010 běží pod všemi verzemi operačních systémů Microsoft Windows NT od Windows 2000 a výše.
* Jabber protokol portován na QIP 2010 z Miranda IM na základě zvláštní dohody s jeho vývojáři.
